Tandem: Code the Dream’s Managed Apprenticeship Model

We help you meet business goals by providing a bespoke, low risk, and supportive talent development strategy to complement your existing approaches for sourcing early career talent.  Through our Tandem model, your organization gets the dual benefit of building a sustainable tech talent pipeline through a registered apprenticeship program while enhancing capacity on your tech teams immediately.

BUILD A SUSTAINBLE TECH TALENT PIPELINE

Through Code the Dream’s 100% free, highly selective Code School, we provide a sustainable approach to finding trained and tested tech talent eager to work for you.

We select 10% of motivated high potential applicants from around the country for our rigorous Code School.  Top students earn an apprenticeship with Code the Dream Labs where they gain hands-on experience through actual projects.  Our students & apprentices come from non-traditional backgrounds allowing them to bring fresh perspectives to business and tech problems

We partner in tandem with you to mentor and provide hands-on training in your context to apprentices through Code the Dream’s Registered Apprenticeship program.  This plug & play approach does not require you to hire upfront or establish a Registered Apprenticeship program while getting the benefits.

ADD IMMEDIATE VALUE ON YOUR TECH TEAMS

Tandem is more than a talent recruitment program. Our apprentices, guided by our senior development team, can enhance capacity on your tech teams and add value immediately

We partner with you to define the scope of work that apprentices will do, either as team members integrated into existing teams or as a cohort-based project team supported by Code the Dream’s senior developers.

We deploy selected apprentices based on the scope with the option for project oversight and mentorship from Code the Dream’s senior development team.

Apprentices deliver shippable code to support your projects.

YOU HIRE Upon completion of the program, you offer permanent positions to apprentices who meet your standards to retain knowledge and skills while adding diverse talent.  Recommended program duration is 6-12 months, but timeframes can be customized based on your needs.

Generally between 3 and 10, but we customize this based on the apprenticeship!

Generally full-time for 6 months, with the potential to extend. Again, this can be tailored to best meet your organization’s needs.

Yes, this often happens and is one goal of the program but this is not required to participate.

This is based on the scope, including the number of apprentices, and the level of CTD senior developer support requested. Cost includes recruitment, intensive training, apprentice salary, and benefits.  Depending on your needs, costs can up to 15% lower than hiring approaches.  Get in touch with us to discuss.
