Meet Anirudh Bhadoriya, Volunteer of the Month!

April 16, 2024 by Alex Rodriguez

At Code the Dream, we’re thrilled to have a passionate, experienced community of volunteers. We’re proud to celebrate them each month as part of our Volunteer of the Month series. This April, we’d like to celebrate Anirudh Bhadoriya, Staff Software Engineer at Snowflake. Anirudh is a mentor in our algorithms classes for experienced apprentices, where he has led practice technical interviews and helped apprentices problem-solve challenging algorithm problems.

Tell us about yourself.

I currently hold the position of Staff Software Engineer at Snowflake, where I develop the backend infrastructure that supports customer queries. As a leader in the Data Cloud sector, Snowflake is experiencing rapid growth, and I am thrilled to be part of such a dynamic company.

My fascination with programming began during my college years at a time when I was pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. An introductory course in programming captivated my interest, and I was immediately hooked. Luckily, my college allowed students to choose elective courses from different disciplines, enabling me to enrich my knowledge with several computer science courses. This cross-disciplinary approach solidified my skills, preparing me for a career in software development.
Throughout my professional journey, I have explored various programming languages, including C, C++, and assembly language. I have had the opportunity to work on core components of the Windows OS Kernel at Microsoft. At Amazon, my focus shifted to backend development, where I contributed to building highly scalable websites and web services predominantly using Java. Most recently, at Meta, I was involved in developing infrastructure components for applications like Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger using C++ and Hack PHP.

Overall, my career in technology has been deeply rewarding. I feel fortunate to have discovered programming, which has not only become a lifelong passion but also a lucrative career.

Why did you get involved with Code the Dream?

I have always found joy in mentoring emerging professionals and had previously engaged in one-on-one mentoring. A friend who volunteered at Code the Dream introduced me to the organization, and I was immediately drawn to its mission. CTD offers a unique platform that provides quality programming education to individuals seeking to enhance their career prospects. Inspired by this mission, I saw it as a wonderful opportunity to impact multiple lives by sharing my knowledge and experience.

What has been meaningful about your experience with Code the Dream?

My time at CTD has been incredibly rewarding. Witnessing the passion and curiosity of the students has been profoundly inspiring. It’s gratifying to see tangible improvements in their programming skills, knowing that I played a part in their development. This experience has not only allowed me to give back to the community but has also enriched my own life by connecting me with such a vibrant and eager group of learners.

Additionally, several apprentices and CTD staff shared about why they appreciate Anirudh:

I really enjoy the tech mock interviews with Anirudh. I’m not only gaining new knowledge, but Anirudh’s encouraging personality also inspires me to believe in my success and keep moving forward. Thank you, Anirudh, for dedicating your time to help me grow.

Natalia, CTD Apprentice

Ani is the realest and always encourages us to foresee and create better solutions when tackling tough algorithms. It is an honor to be guided by such a humble coding wizard.

Sam, CTD Apprentice

Anirudh’s dedication and enthusiasm in our sessions have been truly inspiring. His ability to explain complex topics with ease and patience has greatly enhanced our learning experience. Thank you for your invaluable contributions, Anirudh!

Munir, CTD Apprentice

A huge thank you to Anirudh for coming in and leading mock interviews for our Algorithms class. He has rolled with the punches as our syllabus changed, dedicated time to find problems and help apprentices, and has made it all look easy. I’m so grateful to have Anirudh with us!

Rachel Frenkel, CTD Staff (Senior Developer, Mentor)

Thank you, Anirudh, for your dedication to Code the Dream!
