Louise Pocock

Senior Public Benefits Analyst
Louise Pocock

Louise has devoted her career to ensuring people can access the health care and economic support they need. With a background in community organizing, legal services, impact litigation, and policy advocacy, she brings a wealth of experience to her work.

Born and raised in northern New Mexico, Louise attended Mahindra United World College in India for her final two years of high school before moving to New York City to earn her undergraduate degree in Urban Studies from Columbia University. She then returned to her home state to attend the University of New Mexico’s School of Law.

Upon graduating, Louise joined the New Mexico Center on Law and Poverty. There, she learned how to use community organizing, communications, and legal strategies to remove administrative barriers that prevented the state’s lowest-income families from accessing essential health and nutrition programs.

Louise continued her advocacy for low-income families after relocating to North Carolina, where she focused on helping immigrants access the support programs they were eligible for. This work took her to South Carolina, where she implemented statewide policy changes to increase economic and social justice for immigrants. Later, in Washington, DC, she advocated for increased access to health and economic support programs at the federal level.

Now, Louise is excited to join the Code the Dream team, where she will support the organization’s mission to close the gap between families eligible for public benefit programs and those receiving the help they need. In her free time Louise loves to travel and explore new people, places, and food.

Code the Dream welcomes three new staff members
Code the Dream is proud to announce three new staff members: Product/Project Manager Shaya Lyon, Senior Public Benefits Analyst Louise Pocock, and Program Assistant Caitlin Gross. By way of introduction, each of them participated in a short Q&A to illustrate who they are and some — but not all! — of the reasons why they are such welcome additions.
