Meet CTD’s Newest JavaScript Interns

Mariandrea Maldonado

Mariandrea was born and raised in Venezuela. In 2014, she started working with programming languages such as: Java, C++, and php while she was studying computer engineering in her home country. Her background embraces development of websites, web applications and development of games for Android. She loves playing piano, swimming, running, mathematics and mental challenges. Mariandrea is fluent in Spanish and has been living in the Triangle since 2018.

Abel Oroko Gechure

Abel is an aspiring software engineer living in the NYC area. After working as a wireless engineer at Huawei Technologies in Nairobi, Kenya, he moved to the U.S. and is pursuing his long time dream of learning how to write code. He completed a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science from Africa Nazarene University in Nairobi. Abel considers himself a tech enthusiast and doesn’t just want to be a consumer of technology, but a creator of the future as well. Abel is a proud father of twin daughters and has already purchased a book on teaching kids to code, even though they are just learning to talk. To date, his daughters are his proudest achievement. Abel is excited by the opportunity to develop his skills and work with the passionate and committed team at Code The Dream.

Sadric Bonner

Sadric has been an advocate for families of justice-involved youth and strongly believes in Restorative Justice policies and practices involving our youth. She is an active alumni of the Youth Justice Leadership Institute (Cohort 2016) under the National Juvenile Justice Network, and the recipient of a fellowship with the National Science Foundation – Innovation Corps (Cohort 2018). Sadric, also, volunteered  as a Surrogate Parent, facilitating Individual Educational Plans for children in Foster Care that sometimes migrate into the Juvenile Justice System. After ten years of advocating for others, she has decided to take a leap of faith advocating for herself into the world of web design. She considers herself a life learner who is excited and grateful for this extraordinary opportunity. Sadric is always mentally and passionately creating ways in which others can be better served.  

Armmand Alston

Armmand, a native of Durham, has served as both a student and mentor for Code The Dream for the past five months. Armmand began his path in computer science in 2016 when he completed the UNC Coding Bootcamp.  Since then Armmand has served in a multitude of informational technology roles at Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools. As an intern at Code The Dream, Armamnd brings his extensive knowledge and skills in languages such as Javascript, React, and among others.

Daniel Carbajal

Daniel lives in Raleigh, North Carolina. He first took Code the Dream’s JavaScript class in the spring of 2019. He says, “At first glance I’m a quiet person, but the truth is that I’m actually solving puzzles and algorithms in my head. It’s for that reason that programming has been a interest of mine as it gives me more to solve.”
