ABOUT
Join Code the Dream and The American Underground for an in-person Juneteenth celebration honoring innovation and the power of community. This special event will explore how nonprofits, entrepreneurs, and technologists are strengthening communities and expanding access to opportunity.
The program will feature an engaging panel discussion highlighting how Durham is:
- Building equitable pathways to entrepreneurial success
- Driving innovation for social impact
- Expanding access to economic opportunity
Come connect, share, and celebrate as we honor Juneteenth’s legacy and the Bull City’s commitment to building a more just and inclusive future.
This event is free and open to the public. However, as seating is limited,
registration is required.

Carlo Diy
Program Manager, NC IDEA
Carlo serves as Program Manager at NC IDEA. He is also an NC IDEA MINDSET certified facilitator of the Ice House Entrepreneurship Program. In this role he oversees the NC IDEA MINDSET program and its deployment throughout the state.
Prior to NC IDEA, Carlo founded and grew HaitiHub.com – a language learning company and social enterprise that helps people learn the Haitian Creole language so they can do more effective humanitarian aid work in Haiti. Drawing on his own entrepreneurial experience and love for education, Carlo taught high school entrepreneurship for several years in Durham Public Schools and wrote curriculum for COMPTIA among other organizations.

Joshua Gunn
Director of the Office of Economic and Workforce Development, City of Durham
Joshua Gunn is an artist, economic development leader, and strategist focused on building stronger cities and expanding access to opportunity. He leads economic and workforce development for the City of Durham, operating at the intersection of business growth, community impact, and public policy.
Before returning home, he served as CEO of the Glendale Chamber of Commerce in Arizona and the Greater Peoria Business Alliance in Illinois, driving regional strategy and strengthening public-private partnerships. An accomplished artist and entrepreneur, Joshua has performed in over 20 countries, appeared in major film and television shows, co-founded Black August in the Park here in Durham, and advised over 50 organizations on growth strategy.
Blending the lens of a CEO, consultant, and artist, he brings a fresh, unapologetically real approach to leadership—grounded in one mission: creating pathways for people and places to thrive.

Tarryn Henry
Interim Director, Hayti Heritage Center
Tarryn Henry is the Interim Executive Director of the Hayti Heritage Center, where she leads a historic cultural institution dedicated to preserving and advancing the African American experience through arts, storytelling, and community engagement. An executive operator and ecosystem builder, she brings over a decade of experience driving strategy, partnerships, and organizational growth across technology, finance, and community-centered initiatives. Her work sits at the intersection of arts, culture, and innovation, exploring how creative spaces can integrate technology to expand access, deepen engagement, and unlock new opportunities for communities. Tarryn is passionate about the power of collaboration across sectors to fuel inclusive economic growth and shape the future of culture and innovation.

Daisy Magnus-Aryitey
Co-Executive Director, Code the Dream
Daisy Magnus-Aryitey is Code the Dream’s Co-Executive Director. She moved to the U.S. from Ghana at the age of 4, and lived in New Mexico, Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York before settling in North Carolina in 2009. Daisy wrote her first line of code in a Code the Dream class, and within a year was working as a full-time software developer at Duke University. Daisy has played many roles at Code the Dream, from a student in the initial pilot to Director to Board Vice-Chair. She has a Master’s in Education Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship from UNC-Chapel Hill.

Natalia Siegel
Director of Donor Engagement, Triangle Community Foundation
As Director of Donor Engagement, Natalia works with fundholders, Giving Circles, and corporate giving to achieve the impact they want to see in the Triangle. She aims to provide connections between the fundholder and nonprofits and cultivate relationships across the diverse demographics in our community.
Natalia has over ten years of experience working with justice-missioned organizations. A native New Yorker, Natalia lived in Washington DC and studied politics with a concentration in peace studies. After college, she ran an academic support program for DC middle school youth and volunteered in rural Colombia.
Since making the Triangle her home in 2015, Natalia transitioned into non-profit fundraising, working at Duke University and an international health-care organization.
