The position: Code the Dream, a growing Durham, NC based national nonprofit, is seeking an experienced, full-time Director of Employer Partnerships to build and maintain strategic relationships with employers, creating talent pipelines and increasing job opportunities for Code the Dream apprentices and graduates.

We are a growing nonprofit organization where people from diverse backgrounds — including low-income individuals, immigrants and communities of color — learn to code. After months of intensive training with Code the Dream’s online curriculum and mentors, new coders have a chance to apply to join CTD Labs, where they gain invaluable real-world experience as full-time software development apprentices.
In our CTD Labs apprenticeship program, experienced developers work alongside student apprentices to produce high quality work for our partners that also offers real experience that will help the apprentices launch life-changing careers.
CTD Labs works with a wide range of companies, nonprofit and government partners, and we are very proud of the broad range of projects that come through CTD Labs every year. Examples of projects include:
- An app that employs evidence-based methods for assisting young children with special needs to learn to read.
- An app for migrant farmworkers — who are often particularly vulnerable because they are forced to move frequently and live in substandard housing — to easily locate nearby health, education and legal resources.
- A wide range of technologies for partner companies ranging from small start-ups to established tech companies interested in serving diverse communities.
Director of Employer Partnerships: The Director of Employer Partnerships is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with employers to create awareness of the benefits of hiring Code the Dream (CTD) program graduates. This role is focused on developing talent pipelines, increasing the quality of job opportunities, and growing the number of hires from CTD’s diverse pool of skilled apprentices and students. The Director will lead outreach strategies, collaborate with internal teams to prepare apprentices for job opportunities, and organize events to engage employer partners. Additionally, this role will work with leadership to explore sustainable revenue opportunities from employer partnerships and continuously align CTD’s curriculum with evolving industry needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create awareness among employers of Code the Dream, and the benefits of hiring CTD students and apprentices.
- Build new employer relationships and strengthen current employer partnerships through outreach and engagement with an emphasis on mission-aligned connections that ensure effective matches for our program participants.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive outreach strategy to identify and engage potential employers and industry partners
- Work with CTD leadership to explore, develop and implement programs that would generate revenue from hiring employers to more sustainably support CTD training.
- Oversee CTD’s Career Development program and supervise job coaches.
- Understand and effectively promote Code the Dream’s program graduates to key leaders at companies.
- Lead efforts to develop and grow relationships with potential employers, tracking engagement and outcomes to inform future outreach efforts.
- Plan and run compelling live events engage employer partners to help apprentices secure job opportunities.
- Schedule and conduct employer visits to determine hiring needs and promote Code the Dream apprentices and alumni as a potential candidate pool.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of four years of related experience in recruiting, human resources, career services, or other similar role; demonstrated experience in employer relations preferred.
- Self-motivated, strategic, detail-oriented, organized, and flexible.
- Strong communication and interpersonal relations skills.
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills, with the ability to effectively convey the value of our training programs to potential partners.
- Excellent networking skills and a well-developed professional network.
- Adept at using LinkedIn and other job-search platforms to research and identify targets.
- Professional writing proficiency.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of the tech industry and familiarity with the skills and qualities employers seek in tech professionals.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Some travel, weekend, and evening availability for events and meetings as required.

Salary & Benefits Include:
- Salary range for this position is $75,000 – $90,000; compensation also includes generous benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by a number of factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
- Comprehensive medical benefits. CTD covers 100% of employee health insurance premiums and 50% of premiums for spouse/domestic partner and children.
