Code with Veni: A Newsletter Dedicated Underrepresented Communities in Tech

Alejandra Rodriguez · Sep 26, 2019

Veni Kunche knows tech. A software engineer for over 10 years, she has been named a “Powerful Woman Programmer” by DCFemTech twice. But Kunche’s extensive experience in the tech sector has made deeply aware of the tech world’s tendency towards amplifying voices that are typically white and male.

That’s why Kunche started Code with Veni, an online newsletter dedicated to highlighting the stories of women and underrepresented communities in tech. In addition to inspirational stories, the newsletter includes pieces of advice from other women in tech and features a “toolbox” of resources teaching basic coding skills, career advice, and recent job postings.

Kunche also founded DiversifyTech, an organization that connects underrepresented coders with jobs and potential employers.

You can subscribe to Code with Veni here, and support Kunche’s work on Patreon here. While you’re at it, make sure to follow her on Twitter as well!

“When you do get something like the motorcycle bill, where you have the old bill and the new bill, this shows a side-by-side snapshot where you can see exactly what’s changed. Discerning those changes quickly allows more time to add depth to reporting," Boughton said.
