First one-month coding class off to a great start

dan · Sep 11, 2014

Last week we started our first one-month intro to coding course. The goal is for students to gain exposure to a wide range of basic concepts, all while coding their first app over the course of a month.

So far it’s been even better than we expected. We have a group of 12 enthusiastic students, who have put in a lot of work, both in and out of class. It’s a group of overachievers, most of whom have immigrant parents and many of whom have already known more than their fair share of struggles.

We have also had an inspiring group of mentors helping us along the way — coming from a variety of software development backgrounds, startups and large tech companies. They have been incredibly generous with sharing their time and expertise.

We look forward to sharing our progress soon.

“When you do get something like the motorcycle bill, where you have the old bill and the new bill, this shows a side-by-side snapshot where you can see exactly what’s changed. Discerning those changes quickly allows more time to add depth to reporting," Boughton said.
