Meet Lennda Chen

Alejandra Rodriguez · May 10, 2019

Tell me about yourself.

My name is Lennda Chen and I am from Durham, NC. I recently graduated from Durham Technical Community College in December of 2018 with an Associates in Arts.

How did you hear about CTD?

I heard about Code the Dream through one of the programs I am involved in called Partners for Youth Opportunity.

How has your experience been with CTD? What skills have you learned?

My experience with Code the Dream has been super pleasant. The people there are super helpful and it’s never about what you know, but if you are willing to learn with them. I have learned Javascript. While learning code is important, the life experiences I have gotten from CTD don’t even match up. From CTD I met Michelle, who is a mother of several kids. We are working on a project together called Tony, and we are learning a ton by doing it.

What do you think makes CTD unique?

CTD is unique because they provide tutors and mentors that support us in learning about tech and also life.

What kind of jobs are you looking for or what is your dream job?

In August, CTD labs will start and from there I will be really excited to bridge the gap between my interest in social interaction, coding, and societal equity plans.

“When you do get something like the motorcycle bill, where you have the old bill and the new bill, this shows a side-by-side snapshot where you can see exactly what’s changed. Discerning those changes quickly allows more time to add depth to reporting," Boughton said.
